Choosing an Orangery or Conservatory?
An orangery design will normally be heavily influenced by the home where it’s due to be fitted, sharing many of its traits and characteristics so that the two things beautifully merge. You don’t get as much glass as you do in a conservatory, but what you do get is more brickwork, which is why an orangery is often regarded as a more private setting for a householder.
With a bespoke orangery design, you have an almost endless list of possibilities. One of the biggest considerations to be made is whether you want a traditional or modern orangery.
Traditional Orangery or Contemporary Orangery?
It’s good to have options and to not have to pay beyond your budget for an orangery, with our contemporary orangeries being very well-priced for what you get, which is many of the features of a traditional design. It has a similar structure to a traditional orangery and doesn’t look too much different to one on both the inside and outside.
Where the two differ is that a modern orangery doesn’t have the same flat perimeter around the roof that you get in a classic orangery.

There are three types of roofing system available at Planet: The Classic Roof, Cornice Roof, and Lantern Roof. For something traditional we suggest that you go for the standard Classic Roof, but for a roof with a little more detailing there are no finer options than the Cornice Roof and Lantern Roof. Remember that the roof will play an integral part in the overall orangery performance.
