No Mess, No Stress – Buy A Solid Roof

It’s infuriating for homeowners when all they want to do is use their conservatory or orangery during the summer and winter months, but can’t because it gets ridiculously hot or cold inside. What do you do to resolve the problem? Fit a solid tiled roof; the easy way to restore thermal efficiency in ageing extensions.

Before you go ahead with all of this, you MUST check whether the addition of a solid roof to your extension will be a “change of use”. If this “change of use” isn’t covered by your Permitted Development Rights, Building Regulation Approval, and most likely, planning permission will also need to be obtained. Authentic tiles / slates

The tiles / slates used in a solid roof aren’t actually the real thing, but seeing them you would think that they are. They feel the same too, although they’re lightweight in comparison, yet capable of resisting the weather. They come in a host of traditional colour finishes and will therefore look right at home when in place.

Roof windows

We admit to customers that a solid roof installation will result in some loss of natural light. However, you can overcome this by including one or more roof windows in the solid roof design. These openings will entice the sun into the heart of the structure and can be used for ventilation when required.

Quieter space

When heavy rain is bouncing down on your old glass conservatory roof it can be difficult trying to hold a conversation due to the noise it generates. A solid roof will minimise the impact of any downpours and has the acoustic properties needed to keep out general external noise to give you constant peace and quiet.
