How To Get Your Home Looking Suitably Festive For Christmas
We’re into December, so the countdown to Christmas is now in full swing, and it’s time to get that festive fever.
A few ‘virtual’ Christmas parties should put you in the spirit, as will decorating the house with the kids.
If your place isn’t looking Christmassy yet, have a decorating day this weekend, with some festive favourites playing on your stereo and mince pies waiting to be tucked into whilst you do it.
For a guaranteed seal of approval from Santa, use these fashionable festive decorating trends as inspiration:
Hang a Christmas tree upside-down from the ceiling
Did you know that back in the Middle Ages, Christmas trees would be hung upside-down as a religious idea?
It’s a concept that’s now back in fashion thanks to celebrities like Ariana Grande, who recently took to social media to showcase her upside-down Christmas tree.
They’re being sold on many online retailer websites, including Christmas Tree World, if you want to follow Ariana’s, and many others, lead. You can then show yours off on social too.
Add some seasonal sparkle to your stairs
We don’t give our stairs as much attention as our windows and doors when decorating for Christmas, but we should do as they’re a prominent area.
Adorn your bannister with an all-natural garland from one end to the other on top or along its base, and string garlands around the stair rails for an added festive touch.
In the corner of each step up the staircase, put down a small Christmassy-looking box, and hang a stocking from the stairs too.
Wrap your front door like a Christmas present
You will be well accustomed to wrapping toys, games, clothes etc. but probably not your front door. It’s simple to do though, and visually captivating.
Use red fabric if you have a white or light-coloured front door and also buy a large bow, heavy duty magnet and some duct tape.
Once it has been cut to size, wrap the door with the fabric and tape it down, applying the large bow and holding it down with the heavy duty magnet.
Do you need a prettier new door for when the wrapping comes off your current door? Planet can help you with that. Just request a FREE quote for any of our doors.
