A Composite Door Or UPVC Door – Which Should You Buy?
Your entrance door is an integral feature of your house. It’s the first thing that most people see when visiting and it should be tough enough to protect it from intruders.
There’s such a breadth of replacement front doors available nowadays that settling on one when looking to exchange your existing front door for something prettier and more resilient is difficult.
Usually it comes down to a choice between a composite door or UPVC door. But which is best for you?
It’s useful to breakdown the various factors that may influence your decision-making:
Cost
Composite doors traditionally cost more than UPVC doors, but try not to be entirely swayed by price if you have the finances available to buy a composite door. Why are they costlier? It’s because a composite door offers even greater strength than a UPVC door.
That’s not to say that UPVC doors aren’t tough! A UPVC door still promises tremendous security over a prolonged period and can resist a significant amount of force, so is still well worth the money.
Styling
There’s a definite likeness between an authentic timber door and a contemporary composite door in terms of appearance. You would swear that a composite door had been constructed from wood, when in actual fact it just consists of various timber inspired materials.
UPVC doors have a plastic-like sheen to them and are typically available in fewer colours than composite doors which may influence your thinking if you have a specific, unique colour in mind.
Security
Several different materials are meshed together to create a composite door and explains its thickness. The thickness of a composite door enables it to withstand serious external force.
UPVC doors can’t quite match the strength offered by a composite door, but they come installed with a series of sophisticated security features, including a multi-point lock. A UPVC door is highly likely to be far more reliable than your current ageing door.
