How To Get The Front Of Your House Looking Festive
It shouldn’t have escaped your notice that there are now less than two weeks to go until Christmas. If it has, and you haven’t got around to decorating the house yet, what have you been doing? This weekend will be one of your last opportunities to do it.
Don’t let the neighbours steal all your thunder and leave your home looking the odd one out on the street. Give them a run for their money by adding a few festive touches to the outside of the building.
An ideal place to start is your front door as it will be one of the first things that people see when either passing by or coming to visit on Christmas morning.
Hang a wreath on the front entrance
There are differing theories on why we hang wreaths on our doors at Christmas.
Some say it stems back to the time of the Romans who would hang wreaths on doors to represent victory, while Christians believe that it invites the spirit of Christ into their homes.
Whatever your beliefs, either buy or make a wreath that features flowers, leaves, fruits, twigs etc. to create the prettiest of welcomes.
Use something like a wreath hanger to put in on the door so that the door doesn’t get damaged.
Follow that up by going on to do these other Ho Ho Ho so easy decorating ideas…
Get your Christmas tree in full view
Putting up and then decorating the tree will take up much of your time, so show the labours of your hard work to outside eyes by sitting it next to your front window.
Plenty baubles (perhaps some gin baubles if you fancy a cheeky tipple on Christmas Day), lights and an angel resting on top, will help your tree steal the show and draw eyes towards the house.
Fit fairy lights around the biggest window
To further lure people’s eyes to the tree, you could add a single strand of fairy lights around the relevant window for an understated look or wrap them around any bushes / hedges or trees you have in your front garden.
Place a Christmas candle bridge on the window cill too as it wouldn’t be Christmas without one.
This will all put you firmly in the Christmas spirit and show to the world that you’re not a Grinch!
If you feel the cold in your home at any point over the Christmas period, it’s a sign that you need new energy efficient windows and doors in the New Year. Planet will be ready to give you a FREE quote for them when you need it.
