Prior to any design concepts being created, we will visit your home to get accustomed with its character to help inform the design process. The last thing you want is a porch that looks totally out of place, so that’s why a home visit is vital.

Any porch provided by Planet in the past has significantly increased the kerb appeal of a property, and it will do exactly the same for yours. You will love it so much that you will want to show it off as strongly as possible by installing some potted plants outside of the porch, putting up a hanging basket, and / or investing in some form of lighting to illuminate it and almost turn it into a beacon at night.

A pretty porch is no good if it doesn’t protect your home and restrict the chances of a break-in occurring.

We focus our efforts on security as much as style when crafting our porches, adding high security hinges and handles, multi-point locking systems, dog bolts and anti-bump/snap cylinders to each design.

With a porch will also come a handy place for you to park and pick up any shoes, hats, coats, umbrellas etc. each time that you enter and exit the house. This will free up space in other areas.

Porches and planning permission

Some porches come under Permitted Development Rights and don’t require planning permission.

To be a Permitted Development, the porch must comply with the following:

1. The ground floor area (measured externally) would not exceed three square metres.
2. No part would be more than three metres above ground level (height needs to be measured in the same way as for a house extension).
3. No part of the porch would be within two metres of any boundary of the dwellinghouse and the highway.

If it doesn’t satisfy all the above, a planning application will need to be completed and submitted to your local authority.
